Madeira ( Port.) – Island of eternal Spring

Madeira is located just north of the Canary Islands in the Atlantic Ocean. Belonging to Portugal, Portuguese is spoken there. Lovers of the island call it the „Island of Eternal Spring“ because of the pleasant temperatures. With 57km in length and 22km in width it is manageable. However, one must be good on foot to make the 1862 meters of altitude to the summit of Pico Ruivo. It is the highest of a series of similarly high mountains. Madeira is something for hikers and nature lovers, rather not for beach vacationers, because it is mostly steep coasts. The public transportation system is recommended. With the bus you can reach almost every spot on the island.
